Among all the things I’ve posted, this is not one of my favorites. I guess it had appeal for its time and place. I’m simply putting this up for the Geeta Roy/Geeta Dutt fans.
So, Chandralekha was apparently a movie of historic significance. It was the first “all-India” film production, dubbed into several languages (after originally being made in Tamil), and it cost a fortune at the time.
The actress T.R. Rajakumari was also very famous back in the day, and she is in both these clips (if I’m not mistaken).
I have read that some of this film, like the drum dance of the previous post (which looks very good, if only the clip were clearer), was influenced by Uday Shankar’s Kalpana, which came out the same year.
P.S. Yeah, OK, this one is kind of amusing… And it did predate our beloved Mr. Ed!
