Ravi Shankar has died, at the age of 92. Is there anyone out there who can write a fitting tribute? Not I.
Farewell, Pandit Ravi Shankar.
Note on 6/11/22:
DON’T WORRY, THIS BLOG HAS NOT PETERED OUT YET EVEN IF A COUPLE OF MONTHS HAVE PASSED SINCE THE LAST POST WENT UP. THERE’S GOING TO BE A NEW POST, HAVING TO DO WITH RECENT/CURRENT PAKISTANI MUSIC (THOUGH SOMETIMES WITH ANCIENT ROOTS). IT’S GOING TO BE DIFFERENT AND IT’S GOING TO BE BIG AND INFORMATIVE. IT’S JUST TAKING A WHILE TO FINISH IT, ESPECIALY BECAUSE THE BLOGGER HAS BEEN STUCK WITH FULL-TIME WAGE WORK. BUT IT’S COMING SOON… STAY TUNED.
I love the soundtrack of Meera. At one time I had a cassette of his compostions “Sounds of India” , which was lovely.
Apart from that, I can’t speak much about him, I am not qualified.
I’ve listened to lots of his classical performances, but somehow, I don’t really feel qualified, either!!
I should check out that Meera. I’m actually much more familiar with the one from 1947 and ’45. :)
