If you would like to contact me, e-mail to chardsinger [at] yahoo.com. I also have a Facebook timeline, where I have been spending too much time. (But it is only partially like this blog in terms of subject matter.) Anyway, especially if you know me somewhat, and you are on Facebook, you might want to connect there. Send an e-mail so that we can talk more about it and maybe exchange URLs to “friend.”
Like many mortals, I love early Lata best.
Of course! Who could not love early Lata best?
This is the Lata I love. Fabulous. A new song for me.
Very happy to introduce this to you, Pacifist!
I don’t know if you saw my Facebook post about this, but… In this film, Teen Batti Char Rasta, Sandhya was directed to resemble Lata in visual style. (Although not necessarily with the dark makeup, since that was to fit the biggest plot element of the movie, that she was a singer who would encounter bias when seen in person because she was so dark.) But the braid and the attire and probably some of the mannerisms… All of that was modeled after Lata. Knowing that, I picked up a couple of the old Lata pictures that I had in my archives, and it makes perfect sense. It almost looks as though the Lata shown in those pictures is singing in this scene!
